Privacy Policy
Last updated October 9, 2026
The short version: Purselo only stores what you type into it. We never sell your data, there are no ads or tracking, and we never connect to your bank. You can ask us to delete everything at any time.
Purselo is a budgeting app run by an independent developer. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash by our sign-in provider, so nobody, including us, can read them. You can also add a display name and household type.
- What you enter: expenses (amount, category, date, description and notes), budgets, savings goals, investments, recurring expenses, the days you mark as no-spend days, your settings, and group expenses, including the names and amounts you type in for the people you split costs with.
- What the app creates for you: notifications and money tips.
- If you turn on phone notifications: a push address for that device, given by your browser's push service, so we can send your Purselo reminders to it. Turn them off in Settings and the address is deleted.
- Technical basics: cookies that keep you signed in (plus a short-lived one while you reset your password), and your light or dark theme choice saved in your browser. We don't use advertising or analytics trackers.
How we use it
Only to run Purselo: to show your spending and budgets, post your recurring expenses, send in-app reminders, keep your account secure, and fix bugs. We don't sell your information, show you ads, or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Services that help run Purselo
- Supabase stores your account and everything you enter, on servers in the United States, and sends sign-up and password-reset emails.
- Vercel hosts the app, in the United States.
- Anthropic (the company behind the Claude AI) powers two optional features. When you ask for a category suggestion, it receives the expense description you typed. When you generate Tips, it receives your spending totals by category and your monthly budget. It never receives your name or email. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, data sent this way isn't used to train its AI models.
- Apple, Google, Mozilla or Microsoft, depending on your browser, deliver phone notifications if you turn them on. Each message is encrypted for your device, so the push service can't read it.
- Sentry receives error reports so we can fix bugs. Before a report is sent we remove cookies, form contents, your email address and your IP address.
Your choices
- See and change what you've entered at any time, and delete individual expenses, goals, investments, recurring and group expenses, and notifications.
- Download everything you've added as one file from Settings, under Your data, or your expenses as a CSV file from the Expenses page.
- Delete your account from Settings, under Your data. Your account and all of its data are deleted straight away. You can also email tadesefamus@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, and we'll do it within 30 days.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it or ask us to delete your account. Copies in our providers' backups are removed on their normal schedule.
Security
Every connection to Purselo is encrypted, each account can only see its own data, and passwords are hashed. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a password you don't use anywhere else.
Children and teens
Purselo isn't for children under 13. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before using it. If we learn that someone under 13 has created an account, we'll delete it. Parents can contact us at any time.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and we'll tell you in the app before any significant change takes effect. See also our Terms of Service.
